12-1 momentum

the trend that tends to persist · Price trend & timing — reading the chart

In plain English

The stock’s return over the past year, but excluding the most recent month.

Why skip the last month

Recent one-month moves tend to reverse (that’s short-term noise), while the 2–12 month trend tends to keep going. It’s one of the few factors this app validated with its own walk-forward testing before trusting it in the score.

The calculation
12-1 momentum = (price 1 month ago ÷ price 12 months ago) − 1
What each piece means
— the recent end-point — the last month is dropped to skip noise/reversals
12 months ago
— the start-point — a year back
